A Trailer Introduces Us To ‘A Beginners Guide To Snuff’

Nothing funnier then a snuff film, right?

Well – The Butcher Brothers are hoping they can find a way to insert a little humor into the whole thing with their new flick A Beginners Guide To Snuff.  So, what the hell is this one all about you ask?  As always – I’ve got you covered.

From the press release:

“The Butcher Brothers – Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores – have completed their disturbing horror film, A Beginner’s Guide to Snuff. Darkly comedic, the film stars: Joey Kern (Super Troopers, Cabin Fever), Luke Edwards (Jeepers Creepers 2, The Wizard), Bree Williamson (True Detective, Haven), Brad Greenquist (Lone Ranger, Water for Elephants) and many others. The film involves shooting a fake snuff film, to make one woman famous. But, the plan goes off the rails, from the get-go. A preview of A Beginner’s Guide to Snuff and its summer release is hosted here.

The story opens as two brothers, Dresden (Joey Kern) and Dominic (Luke Edwards) enact their scheme. Together, they decide to kidnap Jennifer (Bree Williamson), in the name of infamy and to make the greatest film of all time. The kidnapping quickly goes downhill. Now, the brothers find themselves being hunted by a raging actress, with an arsenal at her disposal.

The Butcher Brothers are best known for their work on vampire thriller The Hamiltons (2006), The Violent Kind (Sundance) in 2010 and they already have their next film finished – The Night Watchmen. Their latest production, A Beginner’s Guide to Snuff, has already won several awards, including: “Best Actor,” “Best Actress,” and “Best Feature Film” at FearNYC. The film opens theatrically in June before Indican Pictures delivers this title, to horror fans, through Video-on-demand and on DVD – this July.”

The film hits VOD and DVD on July 11th!

Genre Vets Julie Benz and Danielle Harris Invite Us To Spend Some Time At ‘HAVENHURST’

Big fan of both Julie Benz – who any respectable horror fan knows from her time spent on Dexter – and Danielle Harris – if you don’t know who she is – stop reading now and leave – and having the two of them on the same project immediately makes it worthy of a mention here at The Horror Channel.  The film is titled Havenhurst and a press release just dropped that spills all the beans on this one.

Brainstorm Media and Twisted Pictures have announced the February 10th limited theatrical and nationwide Cable VOD and Digital HD release of Andrew C. Erin’s Havenhurst. Co-written by Erin (Sam’s Lake, Simple Things) and Daniel Farrands (Amityville: The Awakening, Haunting in Connecticut, The Id), the film stars genre vet (Julie Benz, “Defiance”, “Dexter”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) as a woman battling her own demons while trying to uncover what happened to her apartment’s previous tenant (Danielle Harris, Halloween 4 & 5, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, the Hatchet franchise). Havenhurst will debut in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Music Hall.

Havenhurst will also begin weeklong theatrical runs in San Francisco, Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Kansas City and Phoenix. Nationwide, Havenhurst will be available on Cable VOD and Digital HD platforms, including Charter Spectrum, Comcast, DirecTV Cinema, Dish, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Vudu and more.

Benz and Harris are joined onscreen by Fionnula Flannagan (Little Secret, “Defiance”, “Lost”), Belle Shouse (“Secrets and Lies”, A Million Ways to Die in the West), Josh Stamberg (“The Affair”, “Parenthood”), Toby Huss (Big Bear, “Halt and Catch Fire”), Jennifer Blanc (Among Friends, Good Family Times), Matt Lasky (The Purge: Anarchy) and Douglas Tait (“Jack The Reaper”, “The Quest”).

Welcome to Havenhurst, a gothic apartment complex in the heart of New York City. A beautifully maintained, turn-of-the-century building that houses over 3,000 residents and countless dark secrets. The rent is what you can afford and the rules are simple: live a decent life and you can stay forever. Break the rules and there are consequences.

‘Girl In Woods’ Emerges Onto VOD In June

Seems that things hiding in the woods is a bit of a rage now – The Forest of course was just in theaters and now we have Girl In Woods which will be making it way to a lot of you via VOD.

June 3rd is the chosen date and it appears that it will be pretty much cross platform via cable outlets and VOD sources.  Only one noticeably missing it Time Warner but with them beginning to roll out their new found company since joining forces with Charter – it might just be an oversight.  I would still check my VOD menu on the 3rd – wouldn’t surprise me if it pops up there.

So – Girl In Woods – what the hell is it all about?  Here’s a synopsis and trailer for you to chew on.

The death of her fiancé (Jeremy London) leaves Grace (Juliet Reeves) abandoned in a harsh mountain wilderness. Struggling against the elements and fighting off starvation, the fragile shell of her sanity begins to crack. Soon her struggle worsens when she notices a dark figure stalking her, watching her every step. Through memories of her mother (Charisma Carpenter) and father (Lee Perkins), Grace finds a long-forgotten truth about herself. It is this secret, long hidden away, that will either lead her to safety or down a path of horror beyond anything she could comprehend.

Things Get Sticky In This Look At ‘BITE’

Scream Factory can always be counted on to throw some hard core horror at us and this time around they will be bringing us Chad Archibald’s latest.  You should remember Mr. Archibald from The Drownsman but this time around he moves away from the slasher end of things and takes a trip down the body horror aisle.

BITE will be hitting VOD and On Demand platforms on May 6th.  A small theatrical release also occurs that same day.  Elma Begovic, Annette Wozniak, Denise Yuen, Jordan Gray, Lawrene Denkers, Barry Birnberg, Daniel Klimitz, Tianna Nori, and Caroline Palmer all star in the tale that goes like this:

While on her bachelorette party getaway, Casey, the bride to be, gets a seemingly harmless bite from an unknown insect. After returning home with cold feet, Casey tries to call off her wedding, but before she’s able to, she starts exhibiting insect-like traits. Between her physical transformation and her wedding anxiety, Casey succumbs to her new instincts and begins creating a hive that not only houses her translucent eggs but feeds on the flesh of others. As her transformation becomes complete, Casey discovers that everything can change with a single bite.
