The Strangers 2 Gets A Name Change, A Release Date And A Picture

It’s been 10 years since The Strangers originally came calling.  The thought of a sequel after all this time has passed seems odd – how many folks will remember the premise of the shocking home invasion original? How will they tie it all in?  Won’t be much longer till we find out.

First things first – The Strangers 2 is now known as Strangers: Prey At Night – like it any better?

We also have a release date – March 9th, 2018.

It would appear – at least from the sound of the synopsis – that the only retie-in in will be with the killers themselves.  Here’s the official rundown:

“The Strangers 2 follows a family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and the power goes out. As they hunker down for the night in a borrowed trailer, three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit.

We also have our first look from the film, via a still.  I think you may remember one of the two ladies in the pic.

Labyrinth from Eighth Tower Records

Labyrinth from Eighth Tower Records

Labyrinth is the latest compilation from Eighth Tower Records, purveyors of fine ultraterrestrial dark ambient, drone, and electronic music. With a total of twenty two tracks there’s enough darkness here to swallow the Earth whole.
The compilation starts off with “When the Shadows Come” from Psionic Asylum, a deep, dark ambient track that starts you down the path to the Labyrinth. Some of the standouts are track 3, “Luft” by Monocube, which wades into static like you are waste deep in murky waters of the mind. A train whistle is used expertly to disconcert the listener, sounding much like a plane crashing.
Track 6 brings “The Labyrinth” by Warpness with helicopter sound effects that increase the tension. Track 17 is “Hostile to the Past” by Soliloqua which uses creepy organ music that plants the seed in your mind that perhaps coming here was a mistake.
Track 18 is from Traansmutt, entitled “HehBethKathDaleth” and its packed with plenty of disturbing sounds like you’ve accidentally intruded on some kind of ritual in an old Hammer horror film. Other tracks include “Tre” from Necrophorus, “Verminephrobacter eiseniae” from Stigmate, and “We’ll Return to Our Departed Selves” by IOK-1.
Finally, the compilation contains an interesting passage about the nature of the labyrinth itself:
Mazes must be solved, a left brain activity that involves choices and an active mind and logical, sequential, linear thinking. A maze is multicursal, with many paths. If you don’t pay attention, you can get lost in one. Not so with a labyrinth. It is unicursal – one way in, one way out. There are no decisions, no choices, no thinking required. The only choice is to enter. To walk one is a right brain activity involving intuition, creativity, and imagination, and it requires a receptive mindset. You must trust the path, surrender to it.

A labyrinth is not a puzzle; it is a mystery. Theologian Diogenes Allen illuminates the difference: “When a problem is solved, it is over and done with. We go on to other problems. But a mystery, once recognized, is something we are never finished with. Instead, we return to it again and again and it unfolds new levels to us. Mysteries, to be known, must be entered into. We do not solve mysteries. The deeper we enter into them, the more illumination we get.”

The Bayou Runs Red In The Teaser Trailer For ‘Victor Crowley’

So – last night over at Gruesome Magazine I broke the news that Adam Green shocked the horror world with the roll out of a new chapter in his Hatchet franchise titled Victor Crowley.  Fans showed up for what they thought was a 10 Anniversary showing of the original but instead they were treated to a project that Green and Co. had managed to keep a secret for 2 years.

Well, now the cats out of the bag and Dark Sky Films is gearing up to get this blood bath out to the fans and the first step in that process is  – a teaser trailer.  You ready?

Kane Hodder returns as the beastly Victor Crowley – Parry Shen, Laura Ortiz, Dave Sheridan, Brian Quinn all run away from him.  Here’s your synopsis:

“In 2007, forty-nine people were brutally torn to pieces in Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp. Over the past decade, lone survivor Andrew Yong’s claims that local legend Victor Crowley was responsible for the horrific massacre have been met with great controversy, but when a twist of fate puts him back at the scene of the tragedy, Crowley is mistakenly resurrected and Yong must face the bloodthirsty ghost from his past.”

Through out the month of October Adam Green will be traveling around the country showing his handiwork to all who dare venture into the theater.  Keep it here for updates on where and when you’ll be able to see Victor Crowley.
