The crimes, capture and trial of 18-year-old Nebraska loser Charles Starkweather, who murdered 11 people in 8 weeks between Dec 1, 1957 and Jan 29, 1958.
Terrific cast includes Tim Roth as Starkweather; Fairuza Balk as his 14-year-old girlfriend/accomplice, Caril Fugate; Brian Dennehy as Fugate’s attorney; and Randy Quaid as the Nebraska prosector. You’ve never seen Randy Quaid in this type of straight role. He and Dennehy are both amazing.
1) Roth’s performance inspired Quentin Tarantino to write for him an eerily similar role in “Pulp Fiction” one year later.
2) Look for a young Renee Zellwegger in an uncredited role as Fugate’s older sister.
