Director / Creator of the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise Sean Cunningham was in attendance at this weekends Monster Mania convention in New Jersey and according to the fan site Friday the 13th The Franchise he offered up some much welcome new information on the direction that the series is taking.

During a Q and A session the subject inevitably came up and Cunningham seemed more than happy to spill some beans.  Here’s what was found out.

“Sean Cunningham confirmed interest from the CW in regards to pickup for the tv show. According to him, the basic premise focuses on the REAL city of Crystal Lake, and the effect that the serialized films had on its real life counterpart. This allows them to reimagine Jason in a more grounded reality, as the films would be based off the real life killings that tool place at the Camp. (ie, both the Hockey Masked Jason and a more serious backwoods inspired killer will be making appearances throughout) “
Now remember, this is nothing confirmed just a report from a convention but it would appear as if things are moving along nicely.  What do you think of a story line that is being discussed?  Seems like the CW would be a good fit for what’s being proposed.  We’ll be talking about this one a lot in the future so hang around for updates.
