I know social media is all a frenzy with this news that director Paul Feig has confirmed the rumors and announced that his version of ‘Ghostbusters’ will in fact be an all female cast.  Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are all confirmed for the starring roles.

I don’t care what you say, that is one kick ass cast and I personally feel that Feig is on to something with this new ripple in the ‘Ghostbusters’ universe.  It would be great if he could find a way to fold the classic characters into the story somehow, you know give a little tribute to the reason why they are there but it’s not really a necessity.

It seems that initial fan reaction to this casting is pretty damn negative and I’ve gotta say, I don’t get it.  These are some of, if not the most gifted comedic talents doing it right now and to have them join forces on such a high profile film seems like a no brainer to me.

As always, time will tell but I’m not afraid to stand up and say I’m excited to see this one finally getting off the ground.

Filming is slated for NYC this summer with it hitting theaters on July 22nd of 2016.

Rumor has it that Feig has left the door open for any original cast members to join the fold, lets up they do just that.
